- This module will provide a comprehensive overview of the flute, covering its history, anatomy, and proper technique. You’ll learn about the origins of the flute and its cultural significance throughout various civilizations. Additionally, you’ll gain a deep understanding of the flute’s anatomy, including the headjoint, body, and footjoint. Finally, you’ll learn proper techniques for holding and positioning the flute, ensuring comfort and optimal sound production.
- This module will focus on the essential techniques necessary for producing clear and expressive flute sounds. Students will learn how to form the correct embouchure, ensuring proper airflow and tone production. They will also master basic fingerings for producing clear notes and scales. To build confidence and skills, students will begin playing simple melodies, gradually increasing the complexity of the music as they progress.
- This module will introduce students to the essential elements of flute playing, focusing on music notation, rhythm, and timing. Students will learn to read music notation specifically tailored for the flute, understanding the symbols and their corresponding fingerings. They will also gain a solid understanding of basic rhythms and how to maintain accurate timing, using a metronome to practice and improve their sense of rhythm. To reinforce their learning, students will engage in a variety of practice exercises that will help them develop their reading and playing skills.
- This module will introduce students to the fundamentals of major and minor scales. Through targeted exercises, students will practice scales and improve their finger dexterity. By applying scales to simple melodies and pieces, they will develop a strong foundation in musical theory and lay the groundwork for future musical exploration.
